Kokoskaa Secese Orion Review

Kokoskaa Secese Orion
100 % cotton / 329 GSM post wash
5 months and 21 months

I was fortunate that this tester was still travelling and I could try out my first natty! When this beautiful woven wrap arrived my first impressions were that it was substantial and blankety, but also elegant. The mercerized cotton weft adds a subtle sheen to the Art Nouveau inspired pattern.

Secese Orion felt quite solid and dense in hand, but also had more stretch than I was expecting. The texture and soft weight promised a new wrapping experience for me. Orion is a thicker wrap, but medium thick, not as thick as other wraps I've tried, such as Kokoro Ren.

The look of this wrap is easily described by invoking the image of a pearl, the sheen and warm ivory color, and then the vintage feel of the pattern make for a chic and classic wrap.

Our first up I will admit I was a little bit intimidated. I am not yet a seasoned wrapper, but though it is a blankety wrap, with just a little extra work and muscle I was was able to tighten, pleat shoulders, etc. Because the wrap is blankety it does retain more folds than my thinner wraps and doesn't feel as mouldable, but the trade off is how cushy and plush it feels. I wrapped every day for a week with Orion, using a variety of carries. My 5 month old, 17 lb baby felt almost weightless and this wrap also did a great job of holding my 32 lb toddler in place while cushy and gentle on my shoulders.

The day we took these photos I popped my 5 month old into a FWCC and we headed out to the park, played with my toddler, walked to the grocery store, did a shop, and walked home. Not once in 3 hours did I have to readjust or tighten. This wrap is grippy, thanks to the textured pattern, and once you work your passes and tighten into place - rock solid.

I really enjoyed hosting Secese Orion. I was a little sad to pass it on because I think come Fall this would be a favorite wrap for my main wrappee and me, as it's still a little more wrap than my 5 month old needs. We hosted a size 6, which is just my base, though I prefer a 7, but I think this wrap would really shine in a shorter size or a ring sling for both heavier babies and toddlers alike.

Thank you Kokoskaa for letting me host and play with Secese Orion!
